Recap: Kopi Luwak Tasting at Momofuku Milk Bar, Williamsburg

On Sunday, September 18th, Chef Christina Tosi closed her doors for a private coffee tasting. The guest list included a few local chefs (including Buddakan's head Pastry Chef Vera Tong), a handful of food writers (contributors from GQ, Gilt Taste, and Bon Appetit), the Milk Bar kitchen staff and a couple of coffee connoisseurs. Daniel and I were the hosts. And, thanks to Whitney Browne, our amazing photographer, we were able to capture the event with the most stunning pictures.

We started the tasting with a quote: "The mind, once expanded to the dimensions of larger ideas, never returns to its original size." With that in mind, we asked everyone to smell with purpose... and to taste with purpose. Because after we try something new, we can never go back. Our minds will always remember--our taste buds forever changed.

There were so many life lessons brought about by this tasting. I'm glad we have pictures!

The brewer percolates the coffee. It extracts the best flavor without overcooking the beans!
