On Friday, while Irene was lurking her way up to the Tri-state area, and everyone was scrambling for their "Hurricane Survival Kits" (which included essentials, like batteries, bottled water, and booze!) Daniel and I decided to to brave the pending storm -- and the bustling crowds -- for our "last" meal. Maybe it was the frenzy brought on by the 24-hr news coverage, or it could've been the bare shelves at the market, whatever it was, we were craving something delicious. Forget calories! The apocalypse was about to hit NYC, so we did the unthinkable: we ate at the Shake Shack in Times Square.
The Shack Stack is an artery-clogging, deep-fried, cheese-filled portabella mushroom "stacked" on top of a juicy beef patty. The bread: a fluffy potato roll. And, the crinkle cut fries remind me of childhood... a much simpler time. After all, what's more a All-American last meal than a burger, fries and a shake?
